I have to admit being a more than a little shocked when I first saw the new My Little Pony Equestria Girl dolls. After all of the MLP evelotions over the years, I was sad to see the ponies turned girls. But then I realized that the ponies aren’t going anywhere. Equestria Girls aren’t a replacement, they are a spin off. Ahhhhh ok.
Once I knew that my beloved My Little Ponies weren’t going anywhere, I was able to get behind my daughter’s excitement over the new dolls. After all, she loves MLP (and already has one of each character) and she loves her Barbie dolls, so this is like the perfect combo of each. Although I have a strong feeling that the introduction of the Rainbow Dash Equestria Girl into her collection will bring forth wishes for Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle for her birthday.
I also think we need to get a copy of the Equestria Girls movie, so she can see what the girls are all about. I wonder if RedBox has it or Netflix?
For now, I know that Rainbow Dash will fit right in. After all, she is a rainbow – my daughter’s second favorite color. The question is, will K chooses to keep her with Barbies and Princesses or Ponies and Strawberry Shortcakes. (Where do you think she should be classified?)
