SentrySafe HD4100 Review ~ Holiday Gift Guide

As moms we live in a world of what if. What if something happens to my family, my house, my… So what if, “What if” actually happens. I have always said that after making sure the kids (and dogs) were safely out of the house, the one thing I would go back for are the photos. Now, I realize that grabbing shelves and shelves of carefully created scrapbooks and photobooks would not be possible, but God help me I would do everything in my power to grab that hard drive that stores the majority of our family photos. (Shoot, it makes me tear up just thinking about loosing those images of my babies.) We have long talked about getting a fireproof safe for the house, but for one reason or another it never happened. Now, I have one. And while I will probably store the girls’ birth certificates in it for safekeeping, every square inch of that safe is to be reserved for memories.

From SentrySafe:

Features:

  • ETL Verified 1/2-hour fire protection for CDs, DVDs, USB drives and memory sticks up to 1550°F
  • Key lock for privacy
  • Privacy Key Lock
  • UL Classified 1/2-hour proven fire protection
  • Waterproof Seal-ETL Verified
  • In-lid holder for CDs and DVDs
  • Color: Silver Gray

Why I Love It – Man, this puppy weighs a ton (well, 44 pounds to be precise). I love knowing my precious memories are safe from a disaster (fire or water) without having to keep them off-site in a safety deposit box or expensive cloud storage. But it is also handy to have around for a few small valuables. Yes, a thief could abscond with the entire safe, but said thief would have an easier time stealing all of the electronics in the house than this heavy safe. (Besides, we will stick it in a closet so it isn’t so obvious.) I also like the idea of birth certificates and passports being stored in the safe so that I always know where they are.

Buy It – The HD4100 SentrySafe is available on Amazon, currently for $59. You have to love Amazon with this heavy gift idea, it ships free. (Can you imagine what it costs to ship this thing otherwise?!)

Great Gift For – Moms, dads — anyone with memories worth preserving in the event of a disaster.

This would make a perfect wedding gift. Everyone should have one to protect important papers. We live in a fire zone and have had to evacuate a couple of times. I always grab the safe with the important papers when we leave.
