Potty Training Reward, A Pillow Pet + Giveaway

A new friend arrived at our house, just in time for a momentous occasion – potty training. We’ve been taking things slow with the training thus far, but recently we stepped things up and suddenly she “gets” it. Our little trainee has no problem holding it, her problem is letting it go. So after weeks of her holding her pee from the time she got up from nap time (about 4 pm) until after she went to sleep (8 pm), we had had it with middle-of-the-night sheet changes and pee soaked PJs. So we started diligently working on pee-peeing before bed.

At first it was an hour long process with LOTS of tears as wee tried to get her to pee on the potty. We sang songs, we played games, we read stories… Eventually, a drop or two would come and we would all clap and cheer. Her reward, two M&Ms. But a drop or two still left us changing sheets. After weeks of work, one night a whole stream of pee came. (Heliluigh!) The next night, the same. The process still took 45 mins or more, but it was working. Since we didn’t want to continue with M&Ms before bed, we pulled out a sticker chart (sign up for it free here). We told her that every time she pee-peed on the potty she would get a sticker and that when she filled the chart she would get a prize

After three more weeks of work, I am ECSTATIC to announce that the process now takes less than two minutes and tonight she placed her last sticker on the chart. CONGRATS K! After ceremonial cheers, K received her prize – a Pillow Pet.

“I love you big dog,” she said as she hugged her new Pillow Pet dancing around her room.

And what did she name her prized Pillow Pet, Casper. We have no idea where she busted that from, I can only guess school. But Casper it is. I guess it is time to work on fully potty training her now (not just to go before bed). Wish us luck.

Buy it – “Snuggly Puppy” is the official name of her new Pillow Pet, and in addition to being adorable it will also serve as her first pillow. Part pillow and part pet, the Pillow Pet is machine washable, super soft and an instant hit. Pillow pets are available in 36 friendly animal friends and are available on Amazon.

Win it – One lucky reader will win a Snuggly Puppy Pillow Pet, the perfect prize for potty training or a gift for under the Christmas tree.

  3. We’re going to get our son a bike for Christmas… with training wheels. And, probably going to get our daughter a kitchen set.

However, since our daughter is expressing an interest in the potty, I may have to get one of those cute pillow pets for her! =o)

  5. The anytime reader sounds like a really neat reading help for my 6 year old who is struggling with reading right now..it’s definitely on my wishlist. I also think it will be fun to have grandma read some books when she visits…so the kids can have her “read” to them when she isn’t there.
