Christmas Recycling PSA

Happy Christmas Eve to all! I hope this email finds you and your family well before the big day!

I want to take a moment of your time to gently remind you that most (if not all) of the packaging that your family with tear through tomorrow is RECYCLEABLE! We are very lucky to have a fantastic curbside recycling program here in Seminole county, and this is the perfect time of year to review all of the items that can be recycled just by leaving them on the curb!

  • Wrapping paper
  • Tissue Paper
  • Bags (unless you plan to reuse, of course)
  • Boxes – all cardboard!
  • Plastic #1-7 – this includes  toy packaging
  • Cards – unless you plan to keep
  • Envelopes – after you jot down the return address 🙂
  • Diaper boxes – not Christmas, but just a reminder

All of these items and more can be left on the curb for recycling pick up. I know this might mean storing it in your garage for a few extra days, but isn’t it worth it to make the world a better place for our kiddos?!?!?

I know that I am a bit of a dork, but it just kills me to see the giant boxes of Christmas trash heading to our landfills when I know that it could be held onto for just a couple more days and then put out just as easily to be turned into something new…

For a full list of all of the items that can be recycled by the Seminole County Curb-side recycling program visit http://www.seminolecountyfl.gov/envsrvs/solidwaste/recycling.asp. I think you will be surprised at how much of your families weekly trash could be recycled instead of thrown in the landfill!! (If you don’t live in our area, just google your county recycling program and check out what can be recycled in your area!)

Ok – enough of my gentle push. Merry Christmas to all!!!!!
