Who says girls aren’t into sports? From champs on the field to avid fans who know as much, if not more than, their male friends when it comes to girl power, playing like a girl is a good thing.
This weekend we surprised our girls by taking them to their first Gator football game. It was the first of what I hope will be many more to come for my sports fans, and it was a blast. Sure, I am still working on my daughter’s basic understanding of downs. But she has that touchdown victory dance down pat.

The key ingredient for kids (girls or boys) to be into sports is supportive parents. Whatever the sport or activity, we have to be our kids champions.
I am constantly battling the “girls/boys can’t do/be” stigma with my daughter. She is five and no matter how hard I try to keep roles gender neutral, society seems to tell her otherwise. She was shocked when I mentioned “boy cheerleaders.” But mom, only girls can be cheerleaders she questioned. Not so I explained as I pointed out the boys on the field.
