Disney’s Robin Hood 40th Anniversary On Blu-Ray August 6, 2013

Everyone has a favorite Disney movie, right? I actually have a few favorites, but when you strip out Princess movies and just look at old classics then there is one that stands out in my mind — Disney’s Robin Hood

I am not sure why exactly it is that Robin Hood appeals to me so much. It could be because I love a classic story of good triumphing over evil. Or perhaps because it has a number of catchy tunes that always get stuck in my head. Or maybe it is (at least in part) because I always through Maid Marian was so pretty. (Yep, even as a girl I remember thinking how pretty that fox was.)

Whatever the reason, Robin Hood is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, and yet until this weekend my girls had never seen it. Of course the reason is simple, it has been locked away in Disney’s vault, and while my mom still has my old VHS copy — we just didn’t have a VHS player!

But Robin Hood is once again being released from the Disney vault for a new generation of children to fall in love with it. And for the first time, it will be on Blu-Ray. I couldn’t wait to share it with my family, and I am pleased to report that my daughter seemed to love it as much as I did. (She even kept talking about “the girl.”)

Robin Hood Disney Blu-Ray

For those less familiar with Disney’s Robin Hood, it is the story of Robin Hood and his trusted companion Little John as they outfox greedy Prince John to save the good people of Nottingham. Dashing from one daring deed to the next, Robin won’t rest until he wins the hand of Maid Marian and restores King Richard to the throne.

Even if you are familiar with the story, what makes this version of Robin Hood different is that the tale is told with a cast of furry characters. If you couldn’t tell from the box cover, all of the characters in the film are lovable animals. (Another reason I love the movie!)

The new bl-ray release includes the following bonus features:

  • Deleted Storyline “Love Letters” (NEW)
  • Alternate Ending
  • Oo-de-lally” Disney Sing-Along Song
  • Disney Song Selection
  • Robin Hood Storybook
  • Robin Hood Art Gallery
  • “Ye Olden Days” Bonus Short & Sing Along with the Movie

Disney’s Robin Hood will be available on Blu-Ray starting August 6, 2013. Amazon’s pre-release price is currently $24.96, which is 33% off retail. Whether you have seen it or not, this is one to add to your Disney collection. It makes me smile, every time!
