It’s Bathing Suit Season, Are You Ready? Giveaway

This time last year I was on the road to a major weight gain. In other words, I was pregnant. The good news for me last summer is that my growing belly was acceptably cute in my bathing suit. It was the only pregnancy side effect that I liked — besides the baby, of course! Then my baby girl was born, and like most new moms I had a new body to deal with. (Oh that pooch!)

I have genetics and breast feeding to thank for most of my weight loss, thanks mom. But I also attribute eating right to getting back to my pre-baby weight. Lots of fruits and veggies for me! While I am no weight-loss expert, Keri Glassman is. That’s why this summer Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt has partnered with Glassman to give moms everywhere tips to get bathing suit ready.

Dannon Oikos Greek Yogurt

Here are a couple Grab a Spoon ‘til June tips from Glassman:

  • Every Meal Is A “Monday Morning.” Focus on eating better, one meal at a time. Otherwise it can be easy to get discouraged – forget the worry! Your only mission: Make the next meal you eat nutritious, balanced and satisfying.
  • Don’t Eat Around A Craving. Honor your craving with a conscious indulgence – take a few deep breaths and find a healthy alternative! Try satisfying your sweet tooth with Dannon Oikos® Greek nonfat yogurt, it is nutritious but still has an incredible taste.
  • No-Excuses Exercise. Sometimes the biggest barrier to working out is just getting there so a good option can be to make it as easy as possible—throw in a workout DVD or even going for a walk takes away excuses and gets you moving!
  • Satisfying Proteins. A moderate-protein balanced diet with a reasonable amount of fiber, carbohydrates and the appropriate amount of healthy fats is the best way to maintain a healthy weight. Dairy is a great source of protein, try a creamy Greek nonfat yogurt like Dannon Oikos®–it has twice the protein of regular lowfat yogurt2.**

My favorite tip is Every Meal Is A “Monday Morning.” Eating healthy can be so daunting, forgiving any past slip-ups and starting fresh each meal is such a great tip.

In addition to finding tips, you will also find recipe ideas and coupons for Dannon Oikos® Greek nonfat yogurt throughout June on Oikos® Greek Yogurt’s Facebook page.

GIVEAWAY – One lucky The Suburban Mom reader will win a signed copy of Keri Glassman’s new book Slim, Calm, Sexy Diet to help you get on track with your eating and get bathing suit ready. Giveaway ends June 21, 2012 at 11:59 pm.

To Enter – Leave a comment below telling me how you shake up your diet routine for summer?

Bonus entry – Tell me your favorite flavor of Oikos® Greek yogurt.

Keri Glassman Slim Calm Sexy Diet

**Oikos Greek Nonfat yogurt has 12 -14g Protein (24%DV) while regular lowfat yogurt: 5g protein (10%DV) per 5.3oz.

Disclosure – I have partnered with Dannon to help promote the Dannon Oikos Greek Grab a Spoon campaign. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, which includes writing about the promotion and product. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.

I’ll be laying off the carbs! I’m insulin resistant so carbs really suck the energy out of me. Wish me luck!

I’m home with my kids during the summer, so we walk to our local Produce Center a few times a week to get fresh fruit and vegetables for that evening’s meal.

We get a lot of extra exercise in the summer by gardening. We expanded our garden to double the size this year. Even when we were newly married, lived in an apartment and didn’t have our own house, we had a garden plot from the township/county where we lived.

I like the plain fat-free in the large 32 oz container. That way I can use it for multiple purposes: as a snack w/fruit, to replace sour cream or use in a recipe as a sub for sour cream.
