I am a snacker. Big time. To make snacking worse, I go for sweets — cookies! The worst time of day for me is around 3 pm when the girls are napping and I am typing away on the computer (like right now). When I hit a mental block in writing, the munchies start up — hardcore. I could really go for one of those oatmeal chocolate chip cookies my daughter made right now…
Part of my munchies are actual hunger, the other part just needing something to do while I think. The other day as I contemplated grabbing another cookie. I remembered the box of Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop! sitting in my pantry. A bowl of popcorn would certainly fill me up and keep my hands busy while I thought… I decided to skip the cookie and give it a try.
Pop-pop-pop-pop-pop went the microwave.
In a matter of minutes I was back at my computer with my popcorn. Munch, munch, munch…
It worked! I ate about half of the bag before getting full and by then I was back on a roll typing away! Now that’s smart snacking.
For those who pay attention to nutritional details (you must not be the type to normally snack on cookies!), Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop! is also a healthy snack. With just 100 calories per six cups you can fill up without going over your calorie count. I have to admit when I first read that it was only 100 calories, I pictured those 100-calorie snack bags that never fill me up. This is totally different six cups of popcorn is a LOT. For reference, the bag says there are about six and a half cups in the bag pictured below (110 calories). I only ate half of it.
Everyone knows how big a jar of baby food is right? So here’s my size comparison so you can see just how big this bowl of popcorn is.
For those snackers, like me, who prefer taste over calorie counting, I assure you the Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop! is very tasty. You don’t have all the grease, but you have all the flavor! In fact, I was a little concerned about eating popcorn while working on my computer, you know butter fingers. But while the popcorn is butter flavored, it wasn’t greasy at all (hence only 100 calories).
Of course, when my daughter woke from her nap she was more than happy to eat the rest of the bag for me!
I have seen the pop-up bowls advertised, but I had never seen them in person. They are totally cool. No extra trash because normally you have the bag anyway, and no extra bowl to clean. Easy peasy!
If you are looking for a tasty, filling, grease-free, low-calorie snack, I recommend Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop! The whole family will love it. In case I have made you hungry, here’s a coupon for $1 off Orville Redenbacher’s SmartPop!
