This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
As we reflect on all that we have to be thankful this holiday season, there are many opportunities to also help those who are less fortunate. In addition to personal contributions, there are also opportunities to get involved with national contributions. Walmart’s 12 Days of Giving program is one such program. This year, the company will donate $1.5 million in grants to organizations across the country that are working to support local communities. Through the campaign customers can voice their opinion about which local groups deserve a portion of the monies being donated for basic supplies like food, diapers, cold-weather clothing, etc.
From now through November 18, you can nominate an organization for consideration by visiting Walmart’s 12 Facebook page. In order to nominate your organization you will need the following:
- Nonprofit name
- Nonprofit contact info (address & phone)
- Nonprofit website
- Photo (optional)
- Short description of why this organization is deserving
I took advantage of the opportunity to nominate The Sharing Center, which helps to provide support to the growing homeless population in our area. Offering basic necessities and access to a place to shower and do laundry, The Sharing Center is always in need of supplies for its food bank.
Whether my organization is awarded a portion of the allotted funds or not, it is great to know that Walmart will make a difference this holiday season – $1.5 million is a wonderful contribution to our communities near and far.
Nominations for these grants ends on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Winners will be announced December 10, just in time to spread a lot of holiday cheer. What nonprofit will you nominate to be part of Walmart’s 12 Days of Giving?
