I love going to the beach. LOVE. The only problem, and its a big one, is that the air at my parent’s place makes me sick. It’s a bummer. Since they don’t live there full time, the air sits and get stale. Combined with humidity (hello its Florida on the coast, we are talking 100%) the guest rooms on the bottom floor get musty. That stale, smelly air makes my allergies go wild. It’s a downer.
So from the time we arrive, we have a portable air purifier and a dehumidifier running 24/7. Gallons of water are sucked from the air each day – seriously people it’s humid. The only plus side is that the loud rumbling of the dehumidifier makes for a great white noise machine for the kids. LOL!
It works. It makes my vacay time much more pleasant. So I know our little portable machines are doing their job, but I wonder if a built-in machine would do more – for me and my girls.
I’ve been reading about Wave Home Solutions, and I wonder if these in-home solutions might be the answer. Instead of just drying out the house when we visit, a Wave ventilation system would continually draw out the moist air and purify it year round around the clock. Plus we wouldn’t have to contend with pouring out gallons of dirty water every visit – that would be a plus.
This little video shows more about how the system works. It talks about damp air in a basement, so I wonder how that would work at the beach. We Floridians don’t have basements, in case you didn’t know. Why? Because there’s water underground too – water everywhere! But we do have crawl spaces, so perhaps it would still work. If you have too much moisture and want cleaner air, check it out.
