I drove by my old gym this week, it was PACKED! Oh how I remember those days, it was always packed January – March and by summer I had my pick of machines. Seems we all want to loose those holiday pounds but then… well, you know the drill. (Notice, I said my “old gym.” I quit when I got pregnant, and I haven’t made it back since.)
I have never really been one for diets. The truth is I could succeed at my own weight loss program by just dumping all of the Christmas cookies, cakes and candies that still cover my kitchen counter. Instead, I have decided that my cookie-free diet will begin after I finish every crumb I have. (Oh… except for the pesky and adorable Girl Scout who rang my door yesterday. Maybe after those cookies…) Hang on, gotta go polish off another Christmas cookie 🙂
I admit, I am one of the lucky ones; I have genetics on my side (and breastfeeding). That said, I really do need to do something to tighten up this post-baby flab I see in the mirror around my middle. But the trudge of getting back into the gym just seems so daunting with two kids. (I just don’t know how you gym-rats do it!)
Perhaps I could succeed at an at home program. After all, hubby lost +30 lbs by just adding a short, 20-minute workout routine six days a week to his ritual. It’s true, he really did. I am so impressed. Although he also doesn’t live on the cookie diet like I do… so that probably helps.
Yes, my eternal problem is my sweet tooth. And frankly, I enjoy my sweet tooth. So I guess exercise is the only way. Perhaps the girls and I will take a nice walk this afternoon to get started followed by some crunches while playing Pretty, Pretty Princess with my daughter. That’s more my speed.
Are you planning to loose weight in 2012? How will you do it?
Barbara M says
In 2012 I’m continuing to lose weight – already lost 40 lbs!
I watch my portion size by weighing and measuring.
I continue to tweak my food by eating cleaner.
Also regular workouts.
Fortunately I love fruits and veggies.
And I feel great!
