What’s orange, black and pink? October! October is not just for celebrating Halloween, it is also the month for spreading breast cancer awareness. Since breast cancer awareness and research is so near and dear to my heart, I want to let you know about another way you can support breast cancer research just buy shopping for things you normally purchase anyway.
This month Sam’s Club will feature pink packaging on participating General Mills products, and the purchase of these specially-marked products, like Cheerios and Fiber One 90 Calorie Brownies, will lead to a donation to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. In fact, this year you can even help help decide how half of that contribution will be donated by voting at PinkTogether.com for Prevention Research or Treatment Assistance from now until April 14, 2012.
For the last five years, General Mills has partnered with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Foundation to bring breast cancer support to local communities, and this year they are making their annual donation of $2 million to the foundation to advance breast cancer research and support education and community outreach projects.
So go ahead, shop for your favorite General Mills products at Sam’s Club and know that you are making a difference.
