Hallmark Get Carded Challenge ~ Giveaway

We love our technology for fast communication – email, instant chat, Facebook, etc. We all love the instant gratification of communication in our inbox. But let’s face it, don’t we get even more excited to receive a letter or note via snail mail in our mailbox?

I have my mother to thank for my love of letter writing (and receiving). She has always been wonderful about letter writing and sending cards. Oh, it was a pain in my butt when I was a kid and had to write a thank you note for everything, but mom insisted and after years and years and years, it became second nature to me. In fact, my husband often teases me about my family’s constant sending of thank you notes back and forth. (Got one in the mail today from my mom for a Halloween frame I gave her, just because.)

As good as I am about sending thank you notes, my mom still has me beat on “just because” cards and notes. So when I was presented with the Hallmark challenge to send seven cards to seven friends in seven days, just because, I was in!

I was sent 14 cards for the challenge, and I had fun pouring over the cards selecting the right candidates from my address book the receive the challenge cards.

Without question, I knew mom would be the first recipient. After all, not only has she had a lot on her plate lately, but she is my inspiration. This is the card mom got.

It was so much fun sending these cards. I loved knowing that each time I sent a card, in just a few short days someone would open their mailbox and find a little smile waiting for them among the pile of bills, magazines and junk mail.

I am happy to report that each of the card recipients sent me notes (text, email, Facebook) thanking me for their cards. They all said the card brightened their day, and it brightened mine to send the card to them.

Since I have leftovers, I will challenge myself over the next few months to send those cards to other recipients and spread a few more smiles. I already have a few cards/recipients in mind.

Next time you want to reach out to someone, I challenge you to consider sending a card via snail mail. It may be old-school, but it is still oh-so-very appreciated!
