The Lion King on Blu-Ray, DVD and 3D Review
While I was lucky enough to see The Lion King in 3D in the theater twice while in LA, my family never made it to the theater during its two-week, $90 million theater run. But since we have a 3D TV, I was excited to bring the 3D experience home.
We have only had our 3D capable TV for a few months, and while my husband has watched a few sporting events I had never sat down to watch anything in 3D — until The Lion King. And let me tell you, it was pretty cool.
I love that the The Lion King – Four-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy – combo pack offers movie lovers the opportunity to watch The Lion King in every available format. Since it is currently only $5 more than the two-disc combo (Blu-Ray/DVD), it’s also a great deal.
Since the TV is still relatively new, we don’t yet have kids-sized glasses, so the biggest problem was keeping the giant glasses on our three year old’s head. We ended up using a hat and a rubber band to jerry-rig the glasses, but even still they kept slipping down my daughter’s nose. She looked so silly.

But glasses issues aside, the whole family enjoyed watching the special 3D presentation in our living room. With the announcement of several more Disney classics being re-released in 3D (including Beauty and the Beast earlier this month and the Toy Story trilogy next month), I guess we will be investing in a pair of kids glasses soon!
Disclosure – I was provided a copy of the movie to facilitate this review, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Walt Disney Pictures Presents The Muppets
Hot news, Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures has announced that The Muppets will return to the big screen November 23, 2011. I cannot wait. Even the poster excites me.
I already can’t wait to introduce my daughter to her generation’s Muppet movie – I will so be checking to see if Netflicks has the older movies on demand…
Here’s what we know about the movie so far:
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
Walt Disney Pictures DVD Releases and Re-releases 2011
I was recently asked when specific DVDs would be re-released out of the Disney Vault. Unfortunately, only Disney knows that top-secret info until they decide to make the dates known. For now, I can tell you the upcoming schedule through November of what you can expect from Disney movies in the near future. (I keep hoping for Cinderella myself!)
