Today is the start of a new month, a month known for Orange, Black and PINK! That’s right, pink! In addition to Halloween, October has become known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. (I know you already knew that, just a reminder.)

A cause near and dear to the hearts of women across the country, like so many others I have a family tie to this disease. My Grandmother is a Breast Cancer Survivor and my Aunt is currently battling this demon.

This month, lots of companies make it easy to support the Susan G Komen foundation and other foundations for breast cancer awareness and research. Here are some EASY ways you can help!

1) Click on The Breast Cancer Site every day! If you aren’t familiar with this site yet, take 1 minute to check it out now and 30 seconds a day to click on it. For every person who clicks on this site every day mammograms are funded for those who would not otherwise be able to afford them. I promise, it is free (unless you decide to go shopping while you are there) and quick. Click now!

2) Become a fan of The Breast Cancer Site on Facebook! This is one of my favorite Facebook fan pages because it reminds me to click daily with its status updates. Right now the page is running a campaign for 1 million users. When the page reaches 1 million fans, $100,000 will be donated for breast cancer research! Currently, there are more than 300,000 fans. Become a fan today and help reach that goal, you will also be reminded to click daily for more donations to this worthy cause. (Oh and while you are on Facebook, become a fan of TheSuburbanMom so you don’t miss any posts!)

3) Use your P&G coupons. Coupons from the 9/27 P&G flyer announced that for every redemption of on of those coupons a $0.02 donation is to be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Double benefits – saving you money and helping a worthy cause!

4) Buy your favorite products ink Pink this month. There are tons of products out there that have repackaged themselves in pink to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Most of these products will also make a small donation for every product purchased to a breast cancer foundation – just be sure to read the fine print.

That’s 4 quick ways you can be a part of this movement without spending an extra dime (even saving money!). Do your part - click today!

We are a desert family; I am a desert girl! Yum!

A few months ago, while pursuing the ice cream novelty section, I discovered Diana’s Bananas Banana Babies! Ever since I was a kid one of my favorite treats at Disney and fairs has been a chocolate covered frozen banana – yum! Suddenly, this frozen goodness is available at my Publix!!! I bought a box of dark chocolate Banana Babies and couldn’t wait to try them.

One bite and I was hooked. Not only are they “Weirdly Good” as it says on the box, they are weirdly healthy. (Well, at least more so than most of the novelties I once ate.) They are just a banana dipped in chocolate – plus I get dark chocolate so more antioxidants, right? LOL!

My husband was skeptical at first, but now I have gotten him and my parents hooked too! My sister is still a hold out, since she only likes milk chocolate, but I am going to win her over with a box milk chocolate Banana Babies! In the mean time, with only 4 5 in each box, I can’t keep these things in my freezer! (So far, I haven’t found any coupons, but I have seen them on sale from time to time. But even at full price, I have to have them.) Try them, and let me know what you think!

I know, I know Free Gift Cards sounds to be good to be true, but I promise it is easy and free! Now, before you get too excited, you are not going to get rich this way. But if you can earn even one $50 gift card to Amazon a year just for reading emails, isn’t it worth it? I think it is, and I earn more than that!

There are a LOT of reward sites out there (I know, I have signed up for most of them), but by far my favorite one (and the easiest) is MyPoints.

At MyPoints, the easiest way to earn points is by reading emails. Once you sign up, they send emails to you about their advertisers. For each email you open and click through, you receive 5 points. Some days I don’t get any emails, some days I get 5-6! In less than 5 minutes, I can click through all of these emails and earn points. If you are interested in the offer in the email, you can earn more points by signing up, shopping or whatever the ad asks you to do, but you don’t have to. (Although sometimes, there are really good things to sign up for!)

Other ways to earn points include surveys and shopping through the site (this simply means visiting MyPoints to get to the web site you want to shop at). I have dome some of everything on the site, so I earn points pretty quickly. But my husband ONLY clicks through emails and he has already earned two $50 gift cards to Amazon!

(Side note — I am ready to redeem for a gift card to Amazon today, and I am going to use it to buy the new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey’s Adventures in Wonderland movie that came out today. K loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so I am excited to get this video for her for FREE!!! By the way, if you are an Amazon shopper, you can support this blog by clicking through the Amazon link in the far right column to do your regular shopping. It won’t cost you anything, but I will get a referral fee - hint hint!)

Since becoming a member of MyPoints, I have redeemed points (more than 30,000!) for gift cards to Old Navy, Gap, Amazon, Pottery Barn Kids, Target and more! Are you ready to start earning free gift cards? If so, you can go to MyPoints directly, or ask me to send you my referral link. If you sign up through my referral link (which I am happy to email to you) we will BOTH earn 250 bonus points! So, let me know when you are ready to start earning!!!!

I think I tried a pair on at the store once, and I wasn’t impressed. But when K came along, all the mom’s raved about them and I am a sucker for anything Disney, so when Crocs had a sale, I bought K a pair to try… Now I am a convert!

I LOVE CROCS FOR KIDS!!!

Not only are they adorable (bright colors are great on kids), but K loves them! If I don’t put them away in her closet and she sees them, she wants them on – right then! Above all other shoes, she always wants to wear the Crocs! Plus with the Mickey holes – they couldn’t be cuter.

Since we love them so much (bought a second pair last week), I had to pass along that Crocs is having a BOGO sale!!! Not only are they BOGO, but free ground shipping! If you are skeptical like me or already a Croc lover, stock up!
