5 Question Friday

Posted by 10 September, 2010

Every Friday, Mama M. hosts 5 Question Friday, here are my answers to her 5 questions. If you are feeling motivated, leave a comment answering the 5 questions about yourself, I love to learn about my readers!

Did you miss me last week? I was on a plane to NJ and just couldn’t get to posting on the go. But I am back and here are the 5 questions for Friday.

1. Do you feel guilty spending money on yourself?

Yep. We are on a tighter budget than ever before, so spending money on me seems so frivolous. I would much rather make sure my daughter and husband have everything (and more) that they could possibly need. I really don’t need anything… Like those boots still sitting in the bag to be returned because I really don’t need new boots this year…

Rereading that, my answer sounds a little depressing, but it really isn’t to me. I get more joy out of making my family happy than I do out of things for myself. So I would rather not spend money on myself so I can spoil my family. :)  Know what I mean moms?

2. How well do you know your neighbors?

I am a LUCKY lady! I live in a fantastic neighborhood and have wonderful neighbors! Growing up, we really didn’t know the people who lived adjacent to us, other than in passing. But I have an awesome family that lives next door with four great kids. I love having a neighbor that I can mosey over to borrow an egg (done that) or chat while the kids play (all the time). Plus she’s just plain cool! (Hi Maria!) On the other side, I have another great neighbor, and while are kids aren’t as close she’s also a great neighbor who would be there for me in a jiff (and I for her). PLUS all my daughter’s BFFs and their fab moms live just down the street. Play time for my daughter and for me is just a few blocks away. Yep, I LOVE my suburban life!

3. What age are you looking forward to being?

Interesting question since my birthday is in 4 days.:)  Last year I really struggled with turning 30 (gasp). Seriously, I was really bothered/depressed by leaving my 20s. This year, my birthday doesn’t really faze me, but at the same time, there isn’t really an age to look forward to specifically. I am just enjoying the ride.

4. Do you get excited when the mail comes? Why?

YES! I am like a kid at Christmas checking the mail everyday. The mailman bring so many wonderful things (as does the UPS and FedEx man!) — magazines, catalogs, freebies, birthday invitations, Christmas cards and so much more. I just love a good mail day, I wonder what’s in store for me today?

5. What is your earliest childhood memory?

Every time we make new memories with our daughter, I wonder what she will remember and I try to remember my own early memories. I think I have false early memories, things that I have seen pictures of so I think I remember the event but I really remember the photo. But the things I remember most from my childhood are little spinets of playing with my neighborhood friends, my birthday parties and my cousins. All of those memories make me smile, so I work hard to make sure my daughter makes similar happy memories of her own.

    5 questions Friday! Yeah!!!

    1. Yes, very much so. Even though, unlike a lot of stay at home moms, I do have my own income. I still feel guilty spending it on myself. BUT, I do not feel guilty for the scrapbooking supplies that I buy. I feel like that is something I do for my family. Recording our memories. (although I am never more happy than when i get a great deal on something I bought for a scrapbook)

    2. I am not so lucky. I really do not know our neighbors. When we moved into this neighborhood 10 years ago there were alot of older people living here and they have since moved on and we have not gotten to know many people that have moved in. I do know a few but only well enough to stop and chat when we see them walking in the neighborhood.

    3. Any age really. I think the better question is what age am I looking forward to my son being. I am really looking forward to him being in the early elementary ages. Old enough to do some really fun stuff with him but not old enough for him to not want to be seen with me.

    4. Yes. Most of the time. I mean there is the occasional bill that I dread but for the most part it brings samples and coupons and mail from friends. My son gets very excited to get the mail every day because he gets regular mail from his grandparents who live out of state.

    5. I think i feel the same as you… there are memories that i think I remember only because I have seen pictures or been told about them. I think my earliest memories are from right about 4 1/2 -5 years old. I used to have an imaginary flower garden on the stairs of our house and I remember sitting there telling my parents all about the pretty flowers.
